"At the time my doctor referred me to Belinda I had no idea I was considered a diabetic. I was under the impression I was borderline. When I first went to Belinda I was very passionate about not going on medication or living a diabetic life. Both my mother and sister have diabetes and I see what it can do to your life. Belinda and I discussed ways to control my blood sugar, plus I asked her to help me lose weight. I am 5' 2" and weighed 141 lbs at the time. My goal was to lose about 10 lbs. I tried on my own in the past, but was unsuccessful. Anyhow, Belinda gave me a plan that fit my lifestyle and was attainable. She gave me a book to track my carb and calorie intake. What I loved most about her approach was there were no rigid or unattainable goals. She pretty much just gave me guidelines that allowed me some freedom. I set out to change my life. Well, I did! I continued my visits with Belinda to tweak my plan and track my progress. Sure enough I started to lose weight as Belinda retrained my brain about food. After 3 months I went back to my doctor to retest my blood sugar level. I was 127 lbs and my A1c level went from 8.3 to 6.0. The nurse practitioner that saw me said, "I cannot say it is impossible, but I personally have never seen anyone achieve that in such a short amount of time." As I continued practicing what Belinda taught me I changed my goal weight from 130 lbs to 120 lbs. I recently revisited the doctor (after 3 months). My A1c level maintained a 6.0 reading and I am 116 lbs. All I can say is Belinda did her job. It was not only a life changing experience going to her, but a fantastic one. She taught me so many things that are and will be beneficial to me throughout my life. Thanks Belinda."
